Custom dashboards are collections of cards (also known as charts) that you select and organize into a preferred layout to monitor site (also known as workspace) traffic that the Next-Gen WAF inspects.

## Creating a custom dashboard

To create a custom dashboard, follow these steps:

### Next Gen Waf Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Next-Gen WAF control panel](https://dashboard.signalsciences.net).

2.   From the **Sites** menu, select a site if you have more than one site.

3. Click **Add dashboard** in the upper-right corner of the Site Overview page.
4. Fill out the **Add custom dashboard** controls as follows:
   - In the **Name** field, enter the name of the new dashboard.
   - _(Optional)_ Click **Choose default cards** and select the default cards you want to add to the custom dashboard.
5. Click **Create dashboard**. Your newly created dashboard appears on the Site Overview page.

### Fastly Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Fastly control panel](https://manage.fastly.com).

2.   Go to **Security** > **Next-Gen WAF** > [**Dashboards**](https://manage.fastly.com/security/ngwaf/dashboards).

3.   From the workspaces bar, click the menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span> to the right of the workspace name and select a workspace.

4. Click **Add dashboard**.
5. Fill out the fields in the **Dashboard details** section as follows:
   - In the **Name** field, enter a name for the custom dashboard.
   - In the **Description** field, enter a description of the dashboard.
6. In the **Select charts** area, click the charts that you want to add to the dashboard.
7. Click **Create dashboard**.

## Duplicating a dashboard

To duplicate a dashboard, follow these steps:

### Next Gen Waf Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Next-Gen WAF control panel](https://dashboard.signalsciences.net).

2.   From the **Sites** menu, select a site if you have more than one site.

3. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the dashboard you want to switch to. You can narrow down the list by using the search field.
4. Click the two stacked documents <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/copy-ngwaf.png" alt="Copy icon" /></span> in the upper-right corner of the Site Overview page. A duplicate of the selected dashboard appears on the Site Overview page.

### Fastly Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Fastly control panel](https://manage.fastly.com).

2.   Go to **Security** > **Next-Gen WAF** > [**Dashboards**](https://manage.fastly.com/security/ngwaf/dashboards).

3.   From the workspaces bar, click the menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span> to the right of the workspace name and select a workspace.

4. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the dashboard you want to clone. You can narrow down the list by using the search field.
5. From the **Options** menu, click **Clone dashboard**.

## Editing a custom dashboard

### Next Gen Waf Control Panel

To rename a custom dashboard, follow these steps:

1.   Log in to the [Next-Gen WAF control panel](https://dashboard.signalsciences.net).

2.   From the **Sites** menu, select a site if you have more than one site.

3. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the dashboard you want to rename. You can narrow down the list by using the search field.
4. Click the pencil <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/pencil-ngwaf.png" alt="Pencil icon" /></span> in the upper-right corner of the Site Overview page.
5. In the **Name** field, enter a new name for the dashboard.
6. Click **Update dashboard**. The renamed dashboard appears on the Site Overview page.

### Fastly Control Panel

To edit a custom dashboard, follow these steps:

1.   Log in to the [Fastly control panel](https://manage.fastly.com).

2.   Go to **Security** > **Next-Gen WAF** > [**Dashboards**](https://manage.fastly.com/security/ngwaf/dashboards).

3.   From the workspaces bar, click the menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span> to the right of the workspace name and select a workspace.

4. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the custom dashboard that you want to modify.
5. From the **Options** menu, select **Edit dashboard**.
6. Fill out the fields in the **Dashboard details** section as follows:
   - In the **Name** field, enter a name for the custom dashboard.
   - In the **Description** field, enter a description of the dashboard.
7. Click **Update dashboard**.

## Deleting a custom dashboard

To delete a custom dashboard, follow these steps:

### Next Gen Waf Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Next-Gen WAF control panel](https://dashboard.signalsciences.net).

2.   From the **Sites** menu, select a site if you have more than one site.

3. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the dashboard you want to delete. You can narrow down the list by using the search field.
4. Click the pencil <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/pencil-ngwaf.png" alt="Pencil icon" /></span> in the upper-right corner of the Site Overview page.
5. Click **Delete dashboard**. A confirmation window appears.
6. Click **Delete dashboard**. The dashboard is deleted.

### Fastly Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Fastly control panel](https://manage.fastly.com).

2.   Go to **Security** > **Next-Gen WAF** > [**Dashboards**](https://manage.fastly.com/security/ngwaf/dashboards).

3.   From the workspaces bar, click the menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span> to the right of the workspace name and select a workspace.

4. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the custom dashboard that you want to delete.
5. From the **Options** menu, select **Delete dashboard**.
6. Click **Delete workspace dashboard**. The dashboard is deleted.

## Adding cards (charts)

You can surface relevant metrics on custom dashboards by adding cards (charts) that highlight meaningful metrics.

### Adding preset cards (charts)

Preset cards (charts) display common metrics. To add a preset card to a custom dashboard, follow these steps:

### Next Gen Waf Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Next-Gen WAF control panel](https://dashboard.signalsciences.net).

2.   From the **Sites** menu, select a site if you have more than one site.

3. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the dashboard you want to modify. You can narrow down the list by using the search field.
4. Click **Add card** in the empty card slot at the end of the dashboard.
5. Select a preset card type.
6. Fill out the Add card window as follows:
   - In the **Title** field, enter a title for the card.
   - In the **Description** field, enter a description for the card.
   - From the **Signals** menu, select the signals the card will track. You can search for specific signals within the list by entering the name of the signal you want to search for.
7. Click **Create card**. The card is added to the dashboard.

### Fastly Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Fastly control panel](https://manage.fastly.com).

2.   Go to **Security** > **Next-Gen WAF** > [**Dashboards**](https://manage.fastly.com/security/ngwaf/dashboards).

3.   From the workspaces bar, click the menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span> to the right of the workspace name and select a workspace.

4. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the custom dashboard that you want to modify.

5. Click **Add chart**.

6. From the **Chart type** menu, select **Present chart**.

7. Fill out the fields in the **Preset charts** section as follows:

   - From the **Metric type** menu, select a metric type.
   - From the **Metric** menu, select a metric.

   > **HINT:** Some preset charts cannot be modified.

8. If available, fill out the fields in the **Signal request metric details** section as follows:
   - In the **Title** field, enter a title for the chart.
   - In the **Description** field, enter a description for the chart.
   - From the **Signals** menu, select the signals the chart will track. You can search for specific signals within the list by entering the name of the signal you want to search for.

9. Click **Add chart**.

### Adding custom cards (charts)

A custom card (chart) shows the percentage that selected signals increased or decreased over time. To add a custom card (chart) to a custom dashboard, follow these steps:

### Next Gen Waf Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Next-Gen WAF control panel](https://dashboard.signalsciences.net).

2.   From the **Sites** menu, select a site if you have more than one site.

3. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the dashboard you want to switch to. You can narrow down the list by using the search field.
4. Click **Add card** in the empty card slot at the end of the dashboard.
5. Select **Signals request chart:** to create a card with a bar graph or **Signals trend list:** to create a card that lists each signal and the percentage each signal increased or decreased over the selected time period.
6. Fill out the Add card window as follows:
   - In the **Title** field, enter a title for the card.
   - In the **Description** field, enter a description for the card.
   - From the **Signals** menu, select the signals the card will track. You can search for specific signals within the list by entering the name of the signal you want to search for.
7. Click **Create card**. The card is added to the dashboard.

### Fastly Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Fastly control panel](https://manage.fastly.com).

2.   Go to **Security** > **Next-Gen WAF** > [**Dashboards**](https://manage.fastly.com/security/ngwaf/dashboards).

3.   From the workspaces bar, click the menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span> to the right of the workspace name and select a workspace.

4. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the custom dashboard that you want to modify.
5. Click **Add chart**.
6. From the **Chart type** menu, select **Custom chart**.
7. From the **Metric type** menu, select **Signals request metrics** to create a chart with a bar graph or **Signals trend list** to create a chart that lists each signal and the percentage each signal increased or decreased over the selected time period.
8. Fill out the fields in the **Signals request metric details** or **Signals trend list details** section as follows:
   - In the **Title** field, enter a title for the chart.
   - In the **Description** field, enter a description for the chart.
   - From the **Signals** menu, select the signals the chart will track. You can search for specific signals within the list by entering the name of the signal you want to search for.
9. Click **Add chart**.

## Editing cards (charts)

To edit a card (chart) on a custom dashboard, follow these steps:

### Next Gen Waf Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Next-Gen WAF control panel](https://dashboard.signalsciences.net).

2.   From the **Sites** menu, select a site if you have more than one site.

3. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the dashboard that contains the card you want to edit. You can narrow down the list by using the search field.
4. Hover over the upper-right corner of the card you want to edit and click the pencil <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/pencil-ngwaf.png" alt="Pencil icon" /></span> that appears.
5. Fill out the **Edit card** window as follows:
   - In the **Title** field, enter a new title for the card.
   - In the **Description** field, enter a new description for the card.
   - From the **Signals** menu, remove signals by clicking the `x` icon in the name or add signals by selecting them from the menu.
6. Click **Update card**. The card is updated.

### Fastly Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Fastly control panel](https://manage.fastly.com).

2.   Go to **Security** > **Next-Gen WAF** > [**Dashboards**](https://manage.fastly.com/security/ngwaf/dashboards).

3.   From the workspaces bar, click the menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span> to the right of the workspace name and select a workspace.

4. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the custom dashboard that you want to modify.

5. Hover over the card you want to edit and click the pencil <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/pencil-ngwaf.png" alt="Pencil icon" /></span> that appears.

   > **HINT:** Some charts cannot be modified after creation. If you'd like to make changes to one of these charts, delete and recreate the chart.

6. Fill out the fields in the **Signals request metric details** or **Signals trend list details** section fields as follows:
   - In the **Title** field, enter a title for the chart.
   - In the **Description** field, enter a description for the chart.
   - From the **Signals** menu, select the signals the chart will track. You can search for specific signals within the list by entering the name of the signal you want to search for.

7. Click **Update chart**.

## Rearranging cards (charts)

To arrange custom dashboard cards (charts) into a preferred layout, follow these steps:

### Next Gen Waf Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Next-Gen WAF control panel](https://dashboard.signalsciences.net).

2.   From the **Sites** menu, select a site if you have more than one site.

3. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the dashboard you want to modify. You can narrow down the list by using the search field.
4. Hover over the upper-right corner of the card you want to edit and click the four-way arrow <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/move-ngwaf.png" alt="Move icon" /></span> that appears, then drag the card to the preferred location on the dashboard.

### Fastly Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Fastly control panel](https://manage.fastly.com).

2.   Go to **Security** > **Next-Gen WAF** > [**Dashboards**](https://manage.fastly.com/security/ngwaf/dashboards).

3.   From the workspaces bar, click the menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span> to the right of the workspace name and select a workspace.

4. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the dashboard you want to modify. You can narrow down the list by using the search field.
5. Hover over the card you want to move and click the horizontal stacked lines <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/move.png" alt="Move icon" /></span> that appear. Then drag the chart to the preferred location on the dashboard.

## Removing cards (charts)

To remove a card (chart) from a custom dashboard, follow these steps:

### Next Gen Waf Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Next-Gen WAF control panel](https://dashboard.signalsciences.net).

2.   From the **Sites** menu, select a site if you have more than one site.

3. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the dashboard you want to switch to. You can narrow down the list by using the search field.
4. Hover over the upper-right corner of the card you want to edit and click the pencil <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/pencil-ngwaf.png" alt="Pencil icon" /></span> that appears.
5. Click **Delete card** and then **Delete**. The card is removed from the dashboard.

### Fastly Control Panel

1.   Log in to the [Fastly control panel](https://manage.fastly.com).

2.   Go to **Security** > **Next-Gen WAF** > [**Dashboards**](https://manage.fastly.com/security/ngwaf/dashboards).

3.   From the workspaces bar, click the menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span> to the right of the workspace name and select a workspace.

4. From the dashboards menu <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/chevron-down.png" alt="Menu icon" /></span>, select the custom dashboard that you want to modify.
5. Hover over the card you want to edit and click the pencil <span class="inline-icons"><img src="/img/icons/pencil-ngwaf.png" alt="Pencil icon" /></span> that appears.
6. Click **Delete chart** and then **Delete**. The chart is removed from the dashboard.
